Sodium Fluoride and Na2 EDTA for Glucose Determination

Sodium fluoride inhibits glycolysis by blocking the enzyme enolase, preserving glucose levels in the specimen for accurate measurement. Na2 EDTA provides anticoagulation by chelating calcium ions, preventing clot formation and maintaining the specimen in a liquid state for processing. The gray BD Hemogard™ closure provides instant color coded identification for glucose determination tubes in the lab.

BD Hemogard™ Closure for Safer Post-Draw Handling

The BD Hemogard™ closure is engineered to reduce aerosol and splatter exposure when the tube is opened after centrifugation. The rubber stopper is recessed inside the plastic shield, so any drops left by a blood collection needle remain isolated from potential contact. The translucent tube allows visual inspection of the specimen before processing.
